Brad Pitt, Cate Blanchett in "Babel"

Variety is reporting that Brad Pitt and Cate Blanchett are negotiating to star in Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu's next film, "Babel." Paramount Pictures is close to signing on as the distributor for the project.

The drama will reteam Inarritu with screenwriter Guillermo Arriaga ("21 Grams," "Amores Perros"). The film will interweave four stories set in Morocco, Tunisia, Japan and Mexico, starting with a tragedy befalling a holidaying married couple.
