The Hollywood Reporter reports that Keanu Reeves is in final talks to star in Sony/Columbia Pictures' "The 8th Voyage of Sinbad," with Rob Cohen ("The Fast and the Furious," "xXx") at the helm. The project has been in development hell for years now, with John Singleton the most recent director to drop the project. The story follows "the continuing adventures of Sinbad and his crew, who are marooned off the coast of China in the 8th century. Once ashore, they embark on a quest for the Lamp of Aladdin, teaming up with an empress to battle fantastical creatures and a rebellious Chinese general." Writers who have taken a stab at the script include Tedi Sarafian ("Terminator 3"), and Cormac and Marianne Wibberley ("Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle"). Charlie Mitchell is expected to come onboard as a writer.
Neal Moritz will be producing the feature for the studio.
