Aaron Eckhart joins "The Black Dahlia"

The Hollywood Reporter reports that Aaron Eckhart will join "The Black Dahlia" with "The Core" co-star Hilary Swank, as well as Josh Hartnett and Scarlett Johansson. Brian DePalma will be directing the feature based on a screenplay by Josh Friedman.

Based on the novel by James Ellroy, the 1940s-set story centers on two LAPD cops who investigate the real-life case of the murder of fledgling actress Elizabeth Short.

Eckhart and Hartnett will play the officers.
