Scarlett Johansson as "Amazon" warrior

Variety reports that Scarlett Johansson will play a 200 B.C. Amazon warrior in "Amazon," a deal which Signature Pictures has just put together.

Johansson will play a gladiatrix who avenges an army after they destroy her homeland. Alex Kurtzman and Bob Orci, screenwriters on "The Island," will produce the project along with Melanie Johansson, Gilles Arondeau and Alexandra Milchan-Lambert.
