Queen Latifah signs for "Welfare Queen"

Variety reports that Queen Latifah has signed to join "Welfare Queen," a true-life story  about Dorothy Woods, who was able to scam the welfare system for lots of money. Abdul Williams will pen the screenplay.

The deal is part of a first-look deal her company, Flavor Unit, which has signed with Focus Features and its genre division, Rogue Pictures. A movie will be produced by Flavor Unit with Edmonds Entertainment.
