Renee Zellweger takes "Case 39"

The Hollywood Reporter reports that Renee Zellweger will star in "Case 39" for Paramount Pictures.

While Zellweger signed for another horror film, the US remake of "The Eye," she has since dropped that film and will take on this project when it begins shooting on July 31.

Based on a screenplay by Ray Wright, the movie tells of a social worker who saves an abused 10-year-old girl from her parents, but later discovers that things are not as they appear.

Paramount is currently shopping the project to various directors.
