Brendan Fraser in "Journey to the Center of the Earth 3-D"

The Hollywood Reporter reports that Brendan Fraser will join New Line Cinema's version of the Jules Verne classic "Journey to the Center of the Earth" in 3-D.

Eric Brevig is directing the contemporary update in 3-D of the Jules Verne classic.

The story revolves around a scientist and his nephew as they embark on a trip to Iceland to check on a volcanic sensor. During a storm, they get trapped in a cave, and the only way out is through the center of Earth.

Shooting starts June 10 in Montreal.
