Zac Efron joins "Hairspray"

Variety reports that Zac Efron ("High School Musical") will join "Hairspray" for New Line Cinema and director Adam Shankman. Shooting begins on September 5th.

It was recently announced that Nicole Blonsky won the role of Tracy Turnblad after a nationwide search. John Travolta, Queen Latifah, Amanda Bynes and Brittany Snow will co-star in the film set for release in the summer of 2007.
