The Hollywood Reporter reports that Michelle Pfeiffer is in final talks to join the cast of New Line Cinema's adaptation of the hit Broadway musical comedy "Hairspray." Based on the 1988 John Waters comedy and the Tony-winning Broadway adaptation of the film, Pfeiffer would play "Velma von Tussel, a former beauty queen (Miss Baltimore Crabs) who can't move on and who is the producer of the dance show." "Hairspray" is being directed by Adam Shankman and produced by Craig Zadan and Neil Meron. Pfeiffer joins John Travolta, Amanda Bynes, Brittany Snow and Queen Latifah, all of whom have already been cast in the feature.
