William Hurt joining Ridley Scott's "Robin Hood"

William Hurt will be joining Russell Crowe and Cate Blanchett in Ridley Scott's "Robin Hood." The Hollywood Reporter reports that the film has just begun lensing in England.

Universal will distribute the film which is being described as a retelling of the legend of Robin Hood and the key characters in the story. Brian Helgeland penned the script.

Russell Crowe is starring in the lead role while Cate Blanchett is on board as Maid Marian. Scott Grimes, Kevin Durand and Alan Doyle are the Merry Men.

Hurt plays William Marshall, the Earl of Pembroke, a historical figure who was one of the most powerful men in Europe. Marshall was a servant to the Plantagenet kings and one of the best jousters of the era.
