Bloody-Disgusting (http://www.bloody-disgusting.com) originally reported that in addition to 20th Century Fox working on a new "Predator" film that will reboot the franchise, the studio is also looking to reboot the "Alien" franchise as well.

Collider (http://www.collider.com) then confirmed with director Tony Scott that a new "Alien" was, indeed, in the works and that it would not serve as a prequel to the franchise that already exists, but rather a reboot to the franchise to begin new sequels thereafter.

No details have been revealed yet regarding specifics of the storyline. It is expected that Tony and brother Ridley Scott (who directed the first "Alien" film) will produce the project.
