Masi Oka (Hiro from TV's "Heroes") has come up with an adventure film project and will be exec producing his own idea. The film is titled "The Defenders" and will be produced by "Transformers" writers Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci. D.J. Caruso ("Disturbia") is in talks to direct the project. Gary Whitta will be writing the script.
The Hollywood Reporter also reports that Dreamworks, the studio that will be developing the film, will also produce a videogame.
Oka's idea came out of playing a multiplayer online role-playing game and the story centers on a group of teenagers from around the world who are involved in a multiplayer video game. Each one is unaware of the other person and who they are behind their avatars and in real life. They are forced to come together for a real adventure and become heroes in the process.
