In somewhat shocking news today, the Walt Disney Company announced that they have acquired Marvel Enterprises and their franchises in a deal worth $4 billion dollars.

So how does such a move affect Marvel's current deals with other studios and properties, such as X-Men (20th Century Fox), The Punisher (Lionsgate), Spider-Man (Sony/Columbia), The Incredible Hulk (Universal) and Iron Man, Captain America & The Avengers (Paramount)?

CEO Bob Iger told shareholders today that all deals will not be affected and since current deals have been mostly successful with all the studios, he doesn't anticipate much to change. He did, however, point out that the acquisition could lead to Disney producing feature films or straight to DVD projects of lesser known Marvel properties.
