Variety reports that the company Guy Walks Into a Bar has acquired the feature film rights to the videogame "Painkiller." The game debuted on the PC in 2004 and was later ported to the XBox in 2006. A sequel to the game is in the works.

Jon Berg, Todd Komarnicki as well as Matthew Weinber will produce the feature.

The game told of a character that is stranded between heaven and hell and becomes a pawn in the battle between good and evil. The movie, like the game, will feature the wide array of weapons as well as several demonic characters.

Ben McCaw will adapt the game for the big screen.
